Ok peeps most of you who raced in the main A final and people that was watching might of noticed the gap between the drivers grid positions, i personaly think that having a gap of approx 10 - 12 paces between each car was a very good idea as we did not have 1 incident on the first corner unlike all the other finals i watched, I think there will be people that argue the point of the last man on the grid was approx 1/5th of a lap behind 1st postiton on the grid but if i was last i woulnt mind at all as thats what qualifying is all about, I think most would agree that having this gap worked better and saved a pile up on the first corner but thats my view and not that of every other driver who races Very Happy

It seemed to work well and as you say Steve, the position on that starting line up is what the qualifiers are about..

Thumbs up from me...

Im easy on,but as a spectacle its better when everyone is closer, and makes it more interesting if one or more cars lower down the grid makes a good start and avoids all the first corner carnage,if or when i make the A final would i have a different view, maybe Smile

It's a compromise really, depends on the track layout more than anything. A tight grid at the nene didn't work as could be seen from the crashes on the first tight corner after the start in front of race control. Just to many cars trying to get round a hair pin all at the same time!. The larger grid for the main final was cirtainly far less hazardous!.

Yea agree with Stevo on this too, having a bigger gap between the cars reduces the chance of pile-ups for sure.
As said also, this is why we have qualifiers! Wink

I also agree, After working hard to qualify to be taken out at the start of the race is gutting, Not that its happened to me but i have seen it happen many times. 10- 12 paces would only be around 5 seconds if that between each car and allot can happen in 30 minutes so i see this as fair.

At first i was unsure when you were all lined up on the grid but i certainly do agree, it worked well and was no carnage on the first corner, as taz said what is worse than getting a broken car on the first corner Evil or Very Mad not that i would know Very Happy

Hey i was just chuffed to be in the A final ! ! !

joking aside, i think you guys done right by giving extra spacing, as has been said already thats what you qualify for.

i would like to think the remaining events this year and maybe the EFRA follow suit, shorter qualifying races may well be 3 metres or so,

but lets face it after half an hour out there, every body has been given a chance of catching Ian, just because we didnt exercise that choice is down to us,

after all, even the master, just now and then may make a small mistake !

JUST NOT OFTEN! So dont get to excited!, LOL.

The grid spacing will be decided by the race director on the day, supported by other members of the comittee.
This is because we have not all visited all the tracks we are using this year and layouts may vary, causing the need to adapt to changing conditions.
