Jase,
The standard wheels and tyres that come with the contrast are ummm a bit dodgy thats why we dont import them with wheels and tyres, and yes the horman wheels and tyres are a class act.... but they have had a few years to get it right.
Contrast / GRP will get thier tyres and wheels right soon and i know there is a lot of testing going on at the moment.

I have said several times the Horman offering is good quality and well established, but time moves on and Contrast is chasing hard and will be chasing even harder in 2010
lets hope the racing for 2010 is tight, fair, and fuill of good sportsmanship.

There is room, for more than just one make in LSOR and i for one hope that we have, Contrast, horman,Elcon,FG,MCD,BX3, ohhhh and fugly pig beast cars on the track.... there is room for them all.

Respectfull regards

John

but matt I see you broke your hormann at notts a few times on her first outing so not supprised you broke your cleon with your driving

Yes you are right Stevo, I broke a £4.00 ball cup on its first outing and a hinge pin which are designed to bend. ... oh and the rear brake was binding on , on its first few laps, cos I had left the screws that hold the pads on loose Embarassed

Almost made the main final if I hadn't spun the middle out of an elcon wheel Laughing Laughing

Not like bending a chassis, side rails and bulkheads on the cleon at its first national.

The cleon is a fast car, but certainly not in my hands, but in the hands of top international drivers yes .........

I ran at sweetnap last weekend for the whole meeting and all it cost me was the fuel to put in the car ..... happy days Very Happy Very Happy

See you all trackside soon

And some Laughing Laughing

Whilst i've not had every car of my own, i do drive other people's cars quite often at meetings, of all makes. They all have good and bad points but overall i've never driven any off road car that's as good as the 09 Contrast Fuego.

On the other hand if everyone drove the same car, it would be very boreing!.

Well what a subject ! ! !

But heres my take on it. i have driven virtually all of them except a BX3. and i rate them like this.

1 = low, 5 = high

FG Marder/Baja 1 or 2 good fun but not to race.

FG or Baja clones = 1 virtually all fall to bits, but cheap.

HPi Baja 2 or SS = 4 good alrounder used to be cheap, great when new for first 2 or 3 meetings, get worse with age, slow to strip down.

Hoerman = 4, lovely soft straight drive out of wet slippery corners, early ones strong, newer ones fast in good hands, but have become easier to break now they have got lighter to keep up with the competition. lots of spares around, if you can find the right ones. but very common on track. easy to drive up to a certain speed

Cleon = 5 when its dry and smooth and nothing to hit, 2 when its wet or hits something.

Contrast = 5 a good well balanced car which has more adjustment than most others to match tracks and conditions, very strong in comparison to others, lighter than all other cars, but still drives really well. stock pods arent the best and yes the shell is thin, but i have driven mine as stock out of the box for the first 4 national races this year, since then i changed the pods and shock seals. the shell is still intact. and its run great since, my driving is improving leaps and bounds now i have a consistant car to drive.

so my 2009 racing year has consisted of replacing 7 parts all year ! ! !( 3 being rear shock shafts before i fitted a rear bumper) i have added 3 non standard parts, 1=rear bumper 2=hard shock seals, 3= HFR race side pods. whats more amazing is that mine has run on only 2 types of tyre, one soft for the wet and one medium for the dry!

did we also mention that Contasts have won both 2 wheel drive National titles this year, ending the season with an awesome 1st, 2nd and 3rd

Other than that, make your choice, and what ever happens have fun, life is getting to serious. Very Happy

Yes i will have to second that about the contrast in the wet, a load of bull they dont handle in it, drove mine at the nene 2 weeks ago on a wet track, stood the shocks up it was equally as good as my hormann, they couldn't catch it anyway Laughing Laughing as mentioned before all cars have a + and a - so its all to personall choice, i have changed to contrast to assist ray and so as not to run 2 different cars but i am not sorry to have changed now, the contrast turns the hormann inside out in tight corners Shocked and is a very very strong car, has to be in my hands Laughing Laughing

Hi everyone,

Just though i would give my opinion. For me it would have to be the hoermann as it is a very fast and reliable car it has been very sucessfull both here in the uk and abroad a top three finish at the biggest meeting of this year proves how fast it really is, its got me into the top three supernational drivers 2 years in a row Very Happy Very Happy . Also mr blackburn taking second this year makes it 2 out of the top three car a hoermann.

Dont get me wrong the contrast has proven it is a fast car but at the moment it is only being driven by the top drivers in largescale and even them have broke many parts on the car.

But lets not forget the results from this poll say it all 1 vote for the harm, 6 for the contrast and 16 for the hoermann.

Basically if you wanna win buy a hoermann Very Happy .
