| unseenmagik wrote: | Ian, I got just a couple of questions:
1) What is the main difference in Software between the two MK1 & MK2
Is there a noticable differece in timing etc on a tuned race engine.
2) If there is and its best to have the new software, can you upgrade or install the new software onto the MK1 ecu, with a flash update ?
Hear from you soon.

Whilst the basic appearance on the lcd looks similar on the mk2 to the original, the software behind it all is completely different. The timing control/accuracy is far superior on the new ecu, and they do make a significant difference on a tuned or standard engine.
The new software cannot be programmed into the older unit, it uses a different processor/clock speed etc etc.

£30 is a cracking price
You've got 10 different maps to play with, the default in the ecu as supplied is number 5. All the other maps have different characteristics which will suit different spec engines/pipes/tunes/fuel etc etc.
Glad you like it though

I've tested most of the different maps on the track now (previously only on the dyno). There's a conciderable difference between the maps on the track
For off road stick to maps between 4 and 7 depending on engine/cc/fuel/air temp. Maps 7,8,and 9 are better for 23cc engines, but 8 and 9 are only really suitable for on road use in qualifying as they have an adverse effect on fuel economy (you'll only get 20 - 25 mins on a tank). I'll update the instruction sheet with more specific advice when i have a few minutes spare.
