Simple answer Clive, ones that fit!!

Seriously I'm sure Twisty or Steve can recommend good astro tyres for the Baja if you intend to run at the Nene or any other LSOR venue (we are all mostly astroturf now)

If you can get your hands on a back issue of RRCi Dez did a review on the 5B V2 and also some proline tyres I think which he managed to get 3 seconds a lap of his time with instead of stock tyres.

I think those two guys run the standard kit tyres. However I expect you know that adaptors are available that lets you use most other wheels. From there Hormann softs would be very good, or you could try the new Cleon Astro wheels and tyres available through SB racing on this forum.

Welcome to LS and see you at The Nene.

Congrats on the purchase Cool
I only run HPi stock or option tyres, they work on any surface,in any condition, reason for that is they are thin[like an F1 tyre cap]they warm up quick and don`t wear to bad.The only real problem with them is if you do a lot of kissing the woodwork, the beadlocks can get damaged fairly easy.
Most people tend to use the Elcon rims because then you can fit all the other tyre types[glued on] if you are on a budget, and crash a bit, then it might be worth while bagging a set of Elcon rims, maybe a pair of hards for the front and mediums for the rear[make it understeer] and get good wear rates.
Be carefull buying adapters, they often take the wheelbase out to far, this can affect the handeling quite badly and if you ever fancyed doing Nationals, could make the car wider than Maximum aloud of 480mm.
Not a problem for club days though.

I have a nasty suspiction that I will spend more time "kissing the woodwork" than going in a straight line! Maybe I will be a contender for the Team5hite Crap driver next year!!!! Confused

CJ - if you're worried about beadlocks, I found that the Silverback RC Products ones are really good - they're not 'flared' like the stock HPI heavy duty ones.

If you're like me (I hope you're not that bad a driver though ha!) you might end up with the screws pulling out of the wheels too - so you can use longer screws and stick a locknut on the back.

I use Proline tyres on the back, to be honest though I don't think they're much different to HPI ones....however they did seem quite different after running on bald HPI ones Wink
