Carpy dear chap got the message at last, it's a senior thing you know, well you will one day!
For pre-heat treated spring steel rod from 0,5 to 9mm;-

the above site has links back to the one already submitted on an earlier response.
Only problem now is you will need someone with a centreless grinder, I don't think even Ian has got one of those!
Another thing, even spring steel will stay bent if it is subjected to loads higher than its yield strength.
On the Contrast topic, just bought one but I bet I can bend its pins, get some in stock John, they will be on my next spares order!
On this topic, no more from me, I must remember never to bump into carpy, not 'til he gets his new pins! |

Hey John Y...
You will be the first i think if you do manage to bend a pin on a contrast however i have plenty of spares cuz no one buys them
Carpy.... It would be worth trying the contrast pins in your car to see if they are any stronger / more springy

Hi John,
I and and couple of the lads have been racing the contrast since late 2007 ( mostly on road, outlaws ) and in all that time i have never bent one of these pins, i have seen one snap, but that has been the only one, trust me you will not bend a pin. _________________ Contrast is the Future |

pheewww managed to explain it at last!
thanks for the link, ive called them and theyre on the case trying to find some. apparently its a size in between wire and bar so he's got to ring around.
it doesnt need any machining to cut grooves so i dont think i need one of those centreless grinder doobries.
thanks again john
just to re-dress the balance here, covey did bend a pin, he also destroyed the arm at the same time! but he did hit the end of a scaffold board about 20mph. the crowd went OOOOhhhhhh!!!only covey could do that _________________ TEAM SHITE........

right chaps, managed to source some bright hardened and tempered spring steel 6 foot for £43 delivered. a good price but its 5.85mm for some reason? thats thinner than the floppy bolts i tried. boy ive learned lots about making things springy over the last week, but cant get an explanation for that size being available? anyone got an explanation or a contact please? _________________ TEAM SHITE........
